Our Projects

Active projects.  The following are projects we are actively working on at present.  To see more ideas of what could be done to help regenerate Dewsbury then check out the Ideas Bin.

Clean & Green

Clean & Green is a community led project supported by the council to make the best use of the hours that community volunteers are ready to do to clean up our town.

Clean & Green aims to identify those areas that most need attention, ensure that maximum effort goes into those areas at the best time and to enlist support from the council when necessary to deal with administrative requirements and equipment.

We aim to ensure that everyone knows that they are not alone in worrying about the condition of 'their' local space and that help is at hand from all parts of the community in an organised programme

Dewsbury Christmas Lights

Events in the town centre are recognised as a major influence to bring increased footfall into the town to help with regeneration and in 2019 we took on the task of organising the annual Christmas Lights.

This is a starting point for us to learn about event management - and boy has it been a steep learning curve!  But starting from this point we aim to work with existing community events to share resources, skills and expertise in order to generate a programme of events running throughout the year in order to create a reason for local residents to be proud to call Dewsbury their home.

The Dewsbury Lottery launched July 2020!

We've organised a local lottery to raise funds to provide:

  • running costs for The Dewsbury Partnership.   Just holding a public meeting in a community building costs money!
  • funds to sponsor and promote community events in Dewsbury and surrounding area.  We want to be able to fund the Christmas Lights without having to go begging for grant support every year and to support other local people with bright ideas for rebuilding the pride of the people of Dewsbury in their town.

The Dewsbury Lottery was launched in July 2020 and can be found on the Lottery page

Having our own revenue coming in will free us from the tyranny of being dependent on grant funding and constantly having to chase the next grant in order to keep going.

Digital Dewsbury

Working with the business sector and Kirklees College digital students to set and achieve the objective that every local business, community centre and community group can be found easily online.

Working with local businesses to ensure that every business can sell online whether through their own website or via a Dewsbury ecommerce portal.
