Bailey’s

Bailey's was a long time favourite cafe for many Dewsbury residents until it closed in 2016 and the vandals got to it and set it alight in 2017.

It is an Art Deco building quite alone and out of position among the older buildings in Dewsbury town centre.  The Art Deco style flourished in the early part of the 20th century and Wikipedia says it 'represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.'  Just what we need in Dewsbury!

The building was bought recently and it is to be hoped that the new owners will respect and preserve the original style in order to contribute to the unique mix of architectural heritage in the town.

What we think:

If we can see it then it should be worth looking at!
