The first meeting of The Dewsbury Partnership committee took place on Wednesday - when the enormity of what we are proposing became ever clearer.
Naturally, a lot of time was occupied by agreeing some basics and working methods and getting ourselves into a fit state to move forward.
As a Community Group we are required to have 4 public meetings each year so we set the dates for those so as to ensure that everyone has lots of notice. They're on:
- Wed 6 July
- Wed 5 Oct (AGM)
- Wed 18 Jan 2017
- Wed 26 Apr 2017
Put them in your diary right now to make sure you don't miss out. We'll be aiming for our watchword of 'FUN' and making them interesting on the night as well as making sure that our community is engaged with what the Partnership is aiming to achieve for Dewsbury.
Organisation
To ensure that we get the benefit of all the expertise we have available in the town we adopted the following concept for the structure of the Partnership.
We have 4 main strategies each of which would have its own working group. Each Working Group would have its representative on the management committee as well as a representative on all the other groups.
The intention is to ensure that we stay as coordinated as possible and we don't lose any bright ideas along the way!
Project Development
What do you mean: 'Walkies...'?
We talked about lots of concepts both during the presentation at the launch meeting and in the committee and it's clear that we need to get down to brass tacks and develop an Action Plan of what we are aiming to do as well as how we propose to do it.
That will enable us to put a price tag on our efforts.
To achieve this the committee is meeting again over the next 2 weeks with meetings dedicated first to the Action Plan and then to Fundraising. And we're not just talking about money.
Spreading the Word
In the absence of money, especially in the early stages, we need to generate enthusiasm in our community sufficient to encourage volunteers to step forward and actually give their time and expertise, whatever it might be, to help this project move forward.
So if you live in the Dewsbury district and really want to see improvements in your town, or if you manage a community group that would like to get your word out to a bigger audience then do use the Contact page to get in touch.
Please don't sit on your hands.
We need all the help we can get!
